Another flavor-filled food truck that’s close to home is Tacos Don Ramon, or Don Ramon’s as we call it. Previously in Mascotte but now set up in Groveland, Fl due to close by competition. I’ve tried many Mexican-inspired food trucks and places and Don Ramon’s always come out on top! These people keep the Mexican culture and authenticity alive and well when it comes to the food, and the drinks!
Don Ramon’s specialties are tacos, burritos, and their torta sandwiches, as painted on the side of their food truck. Any type of meat with all of their food selections from chicken, steak, carne asada, pork, spicy pork, shrimp, even barbacoa, lengua, chorizo, etc. Served on corn tortillas for tacos and usually topped with freshly grown onions and cilantro. On the side, a homemade mild salsa verde and spicy salsa Roja sauces or a cooling avocado guacamole sauce if the heat is too Fuego for you. Limes and half-cut radishes to combat the heat as well with every meal.
Burritos and the torta are for the big boys of the group. The burritos are filled with rice, beans, and your choice of meat or a burrito supreme, where you get that plus all the fixings! Not to mention it’s about the size of someone’s forearm! The torta is one of my favorites which is a huge sandwich on a plain bun cut in half and filled with your choice of meat, lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, cilantro, and sliced avocado. The meats are perfectly seasoned chunks of meat that give you a real bite and fill you up every time!
For drinks, you can get a can of soda, Jarritos brand Mexican sodas or a liter size Coca-Cola in a glass bottle with real sugar. And I don’t know what it is about that Coke and tacos combo, but it complements each other’s flavors perfectly and makes the perfect meal. You’ll easily catch yourself going to this place every day for your lunch break or even dinner. When it comes to hits and misses, this place is a GUARANTEED HIT and always has been in the community!
